Welcome to Wild Wind Books, a brand new independent press specialising in poetry with popular appeal. We are based in Belfast, Northern Ireland but publish internationally through a network of the largest distributors allowing our books to reach a global audience.

The Wild Wind Vision

We believe that poetry can be as emotionally punchy as music, as emotionally satisfying as a novel, perfect for the short attention span times in which we live. Sadly poetry is one of the least popular art forms today, although that has not always been the case. Once it was a thriving expression of emotional life but recent generations have learnt in school what 'good' poetry is supposed to be (intellectual, obscure, elitist, often depressing, often archaic, requiring analysis to understand) and found little to identify with. As a result the majority of people alive today have rarely read a poem since leaving school.

Wild Wind Books wants to change that. We intend to publish poetry for people who think they don't like poetry. We intend to publish poetry which satisfies. This is not poetry you need a degree in English Literature to appreciate. We want you to really enjoy reading poetry, to close a book feeling as fulfilled as if you'd just finished a good meal.
